ABOUT 

Ayanna Young serves as the Communications Director for a Member of Congress. She writes news releases, statements, social media posts, manage press events and website updates. She also maintains a professional relationship with local, state and national media to feature the member's priorities. Previous roles held by Ayanna include Deputy Communications Director for the Florida Democratic Party and Media Relations Specialist at a higher education institution. Ayanna began her career as a Reporter/Associate Producer at The Florida Channel. She has covered the bill-to-law process during the Florida legislative session. Ayanna has reported on a number of events including Hurricane Michael recovery efforts in Florida's panhandle and vigils held for the Pulse nightclub shooting victims. Ayanna was also a producer for the station's daily and weekly news programs.

Ayanna is from West Palm Beach, Fla. She completed her master's degree at Florida State University in Integrated Marketing Communication and received a certificate in Multicultural Marketing. Ayanna earned her bachelor's degree at Florida A&M University in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Public Administration.

During her time at Florida A&M, Ayanna was an anchor and multimedia journalist for FAMU's "News 20 At Five," which broadcasts to over 80,000 viewers in Tallahassee. Ayanna was also a reporter for the university’s radio station, "WANM 90.5 The Flava Station."

From the age of five, Ayanna showed a great interest in the art of storytelling. This led to her audition and acceptance into art schools in Palm Beach County.    

 

On her off days, Ayanna enjoys reading novels, shopping, spending time with her dog, and traveling.
